My 2nd year in Chicago シカゴで2年目

Since last Spring, I have been playing quite a few gigs every month in Chicago with the J.W. Williams Band, and with my own band as well.

Playing in public constantly is the best way to polish my performance. I feel I am close to reaching a peak in my play in both guitar and singing.

Last Fall, I came to Chicago to pursue what I consider the traditional sound of Chicago Blues. Every now and then, however, I receive requests from the audience to play a more contemporary style of blues such as SRV, Santana, and the like.

Over the years, the sound of blues music has changed, and so has the taste of the audience.

Before I got heavy into Chicago Blues in my youth, I was digging British Rock (Cream, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, ELP), American Rock (CCR, Grand Funk), and Southern Rock (Allman Bros., Lynyrd Skynyrd), etc.

However if I am ever requested to play Sweet Home Alabama on stage in Chicago, I might have a little bit of reservation despite knowing that it is a crowd pleaser. When in Chicago, do as the Chicagoans do, after all.
